I would like to begin by saying that it is by no means easy to describe Juanma simply with words. However, on a personal level, after several years and shared experiences, I can offer my humble opinion of him both as a coach and as the person behind the professional role, as we spent many hours together, sharing experiences and conversations both on and off the court.

From a professional standpoint, when I received his call to train together for the first time—more specifically to carry out that year’s joint pre-season, which was later followed by many more and several weeks during the competitive season—I must admit it was a very pleasant surprise for everything it represented for us: top-level experience, the opportunity to expand our knowledge directly from someone already immersed in this demanding yet beautiful world, and the humility of someone willing to help selflessly. For me personally, it also felt like recognition of my work from Juanma, something that would motivate anyone.

I would like to highlight that I learned a great deal in every sense: technical, tactical, psychological, organizational, and above all, on a personal level. I had finally met someone who loved—and still loves—what he does. In every training session, every conversation, and every piece of advice, he breathed and lived tennis, and above all, he lived to help his players grow both professionally and personally.

To this day, he not only remains the same, but is constantly seeking to contribute new ideas and help others develop their maximum potential. Of course, we remain in contact, and I always enjoy keeping up with his successes and ideas, from which I continue to learn.

Now, after my experience as both a player and a coach, I realize that every training session helped us improve. We knew that every session he organized served a purpose—to make us better in some aspect of the game. Working with Juanma was easy from day one: his way of explaining the game and his endless patience ensured that every training session contributed to our improvement. From a technical standpoint, he is among the very best, and every minute spent with him was used to the fullest.
